Néle Azevedo’s “Melting Men”
Néle Azevedo (born in 1950, Santos Dumont, MG, Brazil) is a sculptor and independent researcher. She holds a Masters in Visual Arts from São Paulo State University Arts Institute (UNESP 2003) and a Bachelor in Fine Arts from Santa Marcelina College (1997).
In 2009, she carved these incredible tiny ice sculptures of men and placed them on the steps of Gendermenmarkt Square in Berlin.
Aside from being beautiful, Azeveedo created the thousand miniature people to shed light on the effects of global warming and the World Wildlife Fund’s warning that melting ice could cause water levels to rise. Needless to say, the tiny men didn’t stay sitting for long.

The message of “Melting Men” is that global warming effects us all.

Cassandra Warner & Jeremy Floto’s Ephemeral Sculptures
.
Jeremy Floto and Cassandra Warner are principals in the New York–based photography studio Floto+Warner. The husband-and-wife team has received critical acclaim for their architectural photography.
The photography duo of Floto+Warner created the series, “Colorant,” from an idea that stemmed out of a previous series and the fascination of landscapes, with results that leave one in awe. Creating shapes, not experienced in nature, they tossed colored water in the air to capture “a momentary graffiti of air and space.” Using a high shutter speed to capture these fleeting moments, FlotoWarner has produced a multi-medium series with jaw-dropping results.
